On Sunday, 13 July 2025, Nawroz University opened the first official and British Council-accredited IELTS Centre in Duhok Governorate. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Mevan Arif Abdulrahman, President of Nawroz University, and Ms. Noor Mohsen, Representative of the British Council in Erbil.

This newly established centre is the first of its kind in Duhok, providing registration services and specialised training programmes for individuals preparing to take the IELTS test, both from Duhok and nearby areas.

The opening of the centre marks a significant step in Nawroz University’s ongoing efforts to enhance its status as a leading academic institution in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. It also reflects the university’s dedication to offering high-quality, internationally recognised educational services that empower students and English language learners across the region.
