Listening Comprehension

Course Code C0253 Th 3 Pr 3 CrHrs 3

Activities that promote human interaction in pair work, small group work, and whole-class activities present opportunities for real-world contact and real-world use of language. Strategies for critical thinking are taught explicitly. Students learn that promotes critical thinking skills crucial to success in the academic world.

 

1-1st Semester / Listening comprehension

 

In this course, students will focus on developing their speaking and listening skills in a variety of contexts. They will learn such listening strategies as listening for main ideas and details, predicting content, dealing with distractions, and using context clues to understand what they hear. Plus, doing a lot of speaking activities in the class, such as

‘’ Free talk, Describing pictures, Show & Tell, Role- play. ‘’ 

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to do the following:

 

1-1st semester / Listening comprehension

Objective 1:  Use listening texts as sources for language input through listening to short,                                     controlled texts containing high-frequency language items.

Objective 2: Develop a greater awareness of features of the speech stream ( Stress, Intonation, weak sounds , elision, assimilation. )

Objective 3: Develop confidence through listening to texts, and then making short talks                       about these topics, plus, different activities to improve their Speaking skill.
