This course is concerned with understanding the development of Modern Trends and Theories in architecture and contemporary arts from the industrial revolution to the present time. The proposition includes intellectual and ideological analysis of political, social, cultural, technical, and economic changes in architecture. The course includes presenting the main Architectural Schools, the important theories and the pioneers of

architecture in this period, covering Modern Architecture, Late-Modern Architecture, and Deconstruction Architecture.

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

Demonstrate familiarity with the basic geographical and chronological framework of the architectural trends of Modern, Late-Modern, Post-Modern and Deconstructive Architecture.
Demonstrate familiarity with the major monuments of these trends and some knowledge of the relationships between buildings and the societies that produced them.
Think clearly and critically about architecture and express ideas in a structured and coherent way, with reference to contemporary and historical examples.

Demonstrate skill and confidence in ordered and coherent expression, both written and spoken.
