Specification and Estimation

Course Code A.E.504 Th 2 Pr 2 CrHrs 2

This course is given to the fourth year students of the B.Sc. in Civil Engineering program.

This course enables students to have an experience in quantity surveying measurements and computations. Generally, structure mainly consists of two types which are substructure and superstructure.

Learn the student to prepare the bill of quantities of the engineering projects.

In this course basic skill in estimation and specifications for different items in building construction are given. These skills are starting from general introduction to estimation and ending with construction methods. Also, estimating different items, such as earthwork excavation for foundation, broken stone, reinforced concrete, blocks, and rate analysis of different items and so on are given. 

  • To learn who is the responsible about the estimation, and to determine the quantity of construction materials in the unit of construction activities.
  • To understand students how to determine the rate of any item and prepare bill of quantities
  • To recognize the different types of project execution and preparing contract document.
