In the first semester the course aims to provide the students with the fundamental understanding of passive solar design principles and to demonstrate their applications in the analyzing and designing climate responsive buildings. The course will provide the students in architectural engineering with the passive solar design concepts and materials, bioclimatic design, thermal comfort, green building concepts and sustainability in building design.

In the second semester the course gives the students the basics of environmental system regarding lighting and acoustics. In the first part student will be introduced to the fundamentals of sound, noise, sound absorption and sound insulation, in the second student will be introduced to the fundamental of light design in buildings and its effects on space design and the materials selection.
