The significance of this course is to enable the students to use the language skills communicatively by focusing mainly on reading and writing. The language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing are distinct from one another. Although testing one language skill individually may provide indirect information about a test taker’s ability to perform the others, it might not provide a comprehensive assessment of one’s overall communicative ability, which frequently involves the use of multiple language skills in combination with each other

The objectives of the course are to provide the students with communication skills by integrating the modern methods of teaching and its techniques, to build a knowledge of language which will facilitate reading ability, build schematic knowledge and adapt the reading style according to reading purpose (skimming and scanning), and to enable students to practice language in order to reuse it in other skills such as writing and speaking, besides strengthening the students’ comprehension through listening.
