Nawroz University and Durham University Secure Second Grant from British Academy

Nawroz University and Durham University have once again achieved success in securing a grant from the prestigious British Academy. The collaborative project aims to support and enhance research capabilities, as well as provide global publication opportunities for emerging researchers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The project details were unveiled during a special ceremony at Nawroz University's Center for Scientific Research on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023. Distinguished guests, including Dr. Ali Tatar (Governor of Duhok), Prof. Dr. Abdulwahab Khalid Mosa (President of NU), Prof. Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jamil (Chairman of the Board of Trustees), as well as professors, researchers, and media personnel, attended the event.

The ceremony commenced with an opening speech by the University president, highlighting the significance of the project and alluding to other collaborative initiatives undertaken by the University with international institutions. Dr. Ali Tatar, the Governor of Duhok, congratulated Nawroz University on their success, emphasizing the benefits it brings to the Kurdistan Region. Dr. Mohammedali Yaseen Taha (Vice President of NU) and Dr. Bahar Baser (a professor at Durham University), the two researchers instrumental in securing the grant, provided detailed insights into the project and encouraged researchers to apply and contribute to its success.

Prof. Dr. Haitham Taha, an advisor at NU, emphasized the importance of acquiring international grants in elevating the university's global reputation.

It is noteworthy that this marks the second time the British Academy has awarded this grant to both Nawroz and Durham Universities.
