Global Solutions Small Grant Project

Program Description


• Through sponsorship by IREX, the Global Solutions Small Grant Project, connects students in the Middle East and the United States to virtually collaborate on a sustainable business solution to a contemporary global challenge. Faculty receive five hours of professional development in the summer and then supervise their bi-national teams during eight weeks. Participants will spend 45 minutes to one hour determining and selecting the Problem Statement for the binational cohort of students.
• The students will create a sustainable business solution to a challenge identified by the faculty across business and national sectors.
• Throughout the challenge, students will develop workforce skills, cross-cultural competency and network with industry professionals.
• At the conclusion of the eight weeks, faculty will select the best projects for entry in the Pitching Fair. At the Fair, the selected groups will submit a video pitch and business plan for their prototype to an external group of educators and industry leaders for judging, as well as present a live pitch.
